Introducing Revision B of our Water Purification System
Rev. A survived rivers in Spain, 40°C heat at the Verdon, and 200 liters of real use — but it also showed us exactly where it was weak.
Since summer 2025, our two-case water purification system has been traveling with us — through rivers and creeks in northern Spain, at the Verdon in France, in temperatures pushing 40°C. Around 200 liters processed so far, all of it real use, not a lab test.
That use is exactly what taught us where the design was weak.
What Revision A got wrong
In Rev. A, the UV control unit sat as a separate module outside the case — directly exposed to moisture and dust. The second weak point was in the connectors: the UV unit's signal line runs on a very thin cross-section, and the crimp connections in the automotive-style round connectors we used started working loose during operation. The connectors themselves stayed sealed — it was the contact, not the seal, that failed.

Neither issue showed up on a bench. Both showed up in the field, which is exactly why we don't treat field use as optional testing — it's the only testing that tells us the truth.
A single-case system that had to be operated while open is susceptible to moisture and dust. That's why I had to completely redesign the system. The outcome was Revision B.
What Revision B changes
Rev. B splits the system into two fully separated IP67 cases. All electronics — power supply and UV control — now live in their own dust- and water-protected case, completely separate from the water-carrying side. WEIPU connectors link the two cases reliably, replacing the automotive connectors that caused problems in Rev. A.
We're now hand-building a small number of Rev. B units — for people who want to use one this season and know they're one of the first.

The water-carrying case stays focused on one job: pump, filter stages, and UV unit. Even if a fitting on that side were to drip, the electronics stay dry.


Why this matters
Any manufacturer can list numbers on paper. What actually gets tested is what happens when the same unit runs for a season, gets packed and unpacked at a riverbank, sits in a hot trunk and gets used by someone. Even though the problems with Rev. A weren't serious, they were real. They were documented and fixed. The improvements were incorporated into the new design: Revision B.
